Scholarships - 11/20

Scholarships for this week are under the break. 

1.  Mark Bavis Leadership Foundation

Award: $1,000 - $5,000

Requirements:
  • High school student in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Exceptional leader & someone who has proven this leadership within their school
  • More serious consideration will be given to those students who have made efforts to make a difference in their communities
  • Awarded based on need

2.  Hood Sportsmanship Scholarship

Award:  $5,000

Requirements:
  • High school senior
  • Participated in a varsity sport
  • Furthering their education by attending a two- or four-year college or university next year
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Has performed volunteer work in their community
How to Apply:
  • Students will be asked to write a short essay explaining how they have demonstrated sportsmanship both on and off the field. 
  • Students must apply online at Hood.com
How it Works:
  • Scholarship finalists will be chosen via an online competition at Hood.com, where the public will vote for whom they feel best fits the criteria
  • The ten students from each New England state who have received the most online votes will be interviewed by a select panel of judges, and three from each state will selected as winners.

3.  BigSun Scholarship

Award:  $500.00

Requirements:
  • Student athlete (specific sport does not matter)
  • High school senior
How to Apply:
  • Write and send a short essasy to BigSun answering the following three questions:
    • What are your most important extracurricular or community activities?  
    • What made you join these activities? 
    • What made you continue to contribute to them?
  • Essay submissions should be sent to athleticawards@bigsunathletics.com
    • Advice (not officially from the organization): attach the essay as a document or pdf file to the the email.  On the essay make sure you clearly label it with "BigSun Scholarship Essay" and have your name on each page.  In the email briefly introduce yourself and state your grade level, sport(s) you play, high school you attend, and plan for next year.  This does not need to be longer than a few sentences, but make sure you write professionally!

4.  New England Institute of Technology Senior Scholarship Award Program

Award:  an NEIT tuition scholarship of up to $1,800.00 (only for students attending NEIT, not transferable to another school)

Requirements:
  • High school senior
  • Interested in attending NEIT and motivated to pursue a career in one of the following fields:
    • Automotive Technology
    • Automotive Collision Repair Technology
    • Automotive Hihg Performance Technology
    • Architectural Building Engineering Technology
    • Aviation Science Technology
    • Building Construction/Cabinet Making Technology
    • Business Management Technology
    • Clinical Medical Assistant Technology
    • Criminal Justice Technology
    • Cyber Security Technology
    • Electrical Technology
    • Electrical Technology with Renewable Energy Systems
    • Electronic Systems Engineering Technology
    • Game Design and Development Technology
    • Graphics/Multimedia and Web Design Technology
    • Heating Technology
    • Mechanical Engineering Technology
    • Network Engineering and Computer Servicing Technology
    • Nursing
    • Occupational Therapy Assistant Technology
    • Nursing
    • Plumbing Technology

  • A student must be nominated by the high school, be motivated, have potential aptitude toward the career, and have a teacher/counselor recommendation
