HHS Updates

Greetings from Hull High School!  A lot has happened here since I last posted, so here are some highlights:

Homecoming
Due to the torrential rain forecast for this afternoon and evening, the homecoming football game against the Norwell Clippers has been postponed to Saturday October 20th at 6 PM.  The Homecoming dance will still take place tonight at 8 PM here in the high school gymnasium.

Mr. Sivo
Congratulations to Scott and Lauren Sivo as they welcomed Tessa Mae Sivo into the world on Sunday October 14th.  Mom and Tessa are both doing very well and are now at home.  Mr. Sivo has been at home with his family this week and will also be at home next week.  Retired Norwell High School assistant principal Andrea Keating has been filling in for Scott this week and will be back next week.  I worked with Andrea for six years at NHS and it is great to have her helping here at HHS.

Grade 8 Open House
This past Wednesday, we had a very successful Grade 8 Open House.  More than 40 students and their parents/guardians attended the evening where they received information about and took a tour of our school.  A very special thank you to Mrs. Grosso and the members of the National Honor Society for all their assistance with the evening.

Aspen
Two weeks ago you should have received a mailing containing your login and password for our Aspen Student Information System.  If you are having any trouble with the system, please contact Lisa Dalton at 781-925-3000 X.1106.  Please remember that you will not be able to see student grades until the start of the second term.

PSATs
All of our freshmen, sophomores and juniors took the PSAT this past week.  Teachers report that the students took the exam very seriously and really gave it their best shot.  Scores will be given to students and parents when we receive them in December.

School Nurse
As many of you know, Mrs. Lovey Condrick has been serving as our school nurse since the start of school, as we hired our permanent school nurse.  Lovey has done an amazing job and has contributed a great deal to our school in a very short time.  Lovey has agreed to remain at her post until our permanent nurse is on board, hopefully in the next two weeks.  As soon as she is hired, we will let you know.

School Council
The HHS School Council is meeting on Monday October 22nd at 6 PM in the high school library.  We will be discussing National Honor Society and Alcohol and Drug Awareness programming.  All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Well, another busy couple of weeks at Hull High School.  As always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about our school or your student’s experience here.

Have a wonderful weekend and watch for my blog post at 10:15 PM on Friday night when we announce the Hull High School 2012 Homecoming King and Queen.
