Drug Story Theater's production of, "The Price You Pay" is Thursday, February 11 at 7PM at the Joseph Doniger Auditorium at Hull High School.
About the Performance
The teens in Drug
Story Theater’s pilot program have created an amazing show based on their true
stories. Parents became involved,
sharing their own stories of watching their child choose drugs and alcohol over
the trust of their relationship. Their
time together improvising, rehearsing, and performing brought them closer. But
the time spent traveling to and from the theater was an unanticipated boon, as
parent and child, perhaps for the first time in a long time, simply enjoyed
each other’s company.
About Drug Story Theater, Inc.
Drug Story Theater
(DST) takes teenagers in the early stages of recovery from drugs and alcohol
and teaches them improvisational theater.
The teens then create their own shows about the seduction of, addiction
to, and recovery from drugs and alcohol.
They weave their stories into a theatrical piece that is performed for
middle and high school audiences so the treatment of one becomes the
prevention of many.
Drug Story
Theater’s innovative approach to decreasing adolescent substance abuse
capitalizes on and integrates current knowledge of adolescent brain development
into all stages of the program: from therapeutic group sessions,
improvisational exercises, and family involvement, to story development, script
writing, rehearsing, and performing of the teen’s own stories in front of live
audiences.
Applause provides
a message of value, and your applause has a powerful impact. But there is no final curtain in DST shows.
Performers reach out in an effort to prevent addiction among other teens,
strengthening their own recovery, while gaining new skills, experiences, and
insights to create, reach and realize their own goals.
