Field Trip to Museum of World War II

The juniors in Ms. Cowen's US History II classes and Mr. MacKenzie's AP US History classes had a great time exploring the collection of over 7,000 authentic WWII artifacts at the Museum of World War II on Monday. Some stand-outs included the many rifles and other weapons the students were able to handle, German enigma machines, prisoners' belongings from Nazi concentration camps, propaganda posters, spy gear, some of Hitler's personal belongings, parachutes from D-Day, and of course the Sherman tank! We were also fortunate to have Mr. Richard Dinning as one of our museum docents, who served as a WWII fighter pilot and spoke with some of the students about his experiences.

A big 'Thank You' to the Hull PTO and Hull Boosters Club for helping to fund this great experience.

Festival of Artistry and Harmony - 2015

This year's Festival of Artistry and Harmony was a huge success.  The halls and walls of the school were transformed into an art museum for members of the school community to be dazzled and educated by the art created by our students.  It is always exciting to see the fusing of the fine and performing arts.  It was wonderful to view all of the diverse talent from the visual art students, woodshop students, music students, and art from the South Shore Collaborative students.  We have a wide range of talent here at Hull High School and the Festival is always a great way to showcase the hard work and creativity that the students put forth in these classes.  This year, in regards to the art display, the exhibit was mainly student curated.  Students in the art classes were responsible for the set-up and planning of the exhibit.  Involving students enabled them to gain a better understanding of the exhibition process and give them a better understanding and investment in the final product.  It was great to see the collaboration between students during the process.  Thank you to all the students who helped with the exhibit and all students, faculty and staff who showed patience and respect as they had to work their way through the art display in the hallway.  Without everyone's cooperation, the art exhibit would not have been possible.  In the end, we hope that members of the school community enjoyed viewing the artwork and walked away feeling engaged, energized and most importantly, with a better understanding of how the arts serve as a powerful tool in our students lives.
