COLLEGE READINESS:
What Every Parent Should Know
Thursday, October 20, 2011
7-9 PM
Dwight Performing Arts Center
Want to know:
· How to better prepare your child academically for the freshman year?
· What difficulties students face as college freshmen?
· What work habits college faculty expect from college freshmen?
· What parents can do BEFORE their kids apply to college?
Attend this free information session for parents on how to get their kids college and work ready (Hint: good grades are not good enough). Parents of middle school and early high school-age children are especially encouraged to attend.
Topics to be addressed include the following:
· College Board programs beyond the SAT for middle and high school students
· Academic accommodations: K-12 vs. college
· Expectations and assumptions of college faculty
· Work/study habits and organizational skills: high school vs. college
· Why getting good grades now is not a guarantee for future success
This event is being sponsored by Academic Affairs and the Division of Graduate and Continuing Education at Framingham State University .
