The Hood Sportsmanship Scholarship

The Hood Sportsmanship Scholarship® Program awards 18 New England high school student athletes with a $5,000 scholarship toward furthering their education at a 2- or 4-year accredited college or university.
For more than 160 years, Hood Milk has been committed to supporting families and communities across New England. Hood is proud to be able to give 18 student athletes an opportunity to win a $5,000 college scholarship.
To be eligible, high school seniors must have displayed a high degree of sportsmanship while participating in a varsity high school sport. These students also must have earned a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher and performed volunteer work in the community.
Students will be asked to write an essay explaining how they display sportsmanship and integrity on and off the field.
Each student who meets the standards in the official rules and completes the essay will be featured on an online voting site. The 10 students from each New England state who receive the most votes will be interviewed by a select panel of judges.
The panel of judges will then select three students from each of the six New England states (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont) as the scholarship winners. Winners will be honored at an awards ceremony and inducted into the Hood Sportsmanship Scholarship® Hall of Fame.
Applicants must enter by 3 pm EDT on March 6, 2015. Voting begins 9 am EDT on March 23, 2015, and ends at 3 pm EDT on April 24, 2015.

GE-Reagan
Foundation Scholarship Program

Honoring
the legacy and character of our nation’s 40th President, the GE-Reagan
Foundation Scholarship Program rewards college-bound students who demonstrate
exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with financial
assistance to pursue higher education.
Each
year, the Program selects numerous recipients to receive a $10,000 scholarship
renewable for up to an additional three years – up to $40,000 total per
recipient. Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study, and may be used for
education-related expenses, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, room, and
board. In addition, Scholars are invited to participate in a special awards
program.
To
be eligible for this award, applicants must:
· demonstrate at school, at the
workplace, and within the community the attributes of leadership, drive,
integrity, and citizenship;
o demonstrate
strong academic performance (minimum 3.0 grade point average/4.0 scale or
equivalent);
§ demonstrate
financial need;
§ be
citizens of the United States of America;
§ be
high school seniors attending high school in the United States, or any of the
U.S. territories and commonwealths and graduating in winter 2014 or spring
2015. Applicants living on a U.S. Armed Forces base and attending high school
outside the U.S. are eligible. Home-schooled students who are graduating in
winter 2014 or spring 2015 are also eligible.

Red Pine Scholarship

Your EFC is the amount, determined by the federal government, that you and your family should be able to contribute to you college education annually. National Multiple Sclerosis Society of Greater New England Scholarship

Who is eligible?
Applicants applying for a scholarship for the 2015-16 academic year must meet all of the following eligibility requirements:- Individuals who have MS, or have a parent with MS, and will be attending an accredited postsecondary school are eligible to apply for any year of undergraduate study and must be working on completion of their first undergraduate degree. Students who have already earned an undergraduate degree are ineligible to apply.
- Students who applied in a previous year but did not receive an award may not reapply. For past scholarship recipients, please see "Can I renew my scholarship?" below.
- Applicants must enroll in at least six credit hours per semester in course work leading to a degree, license, or certificate.
- Applicants must be United States citizens or legal residents living in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam or any other U.S. territory and plan to enroll in an undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school located in the U.S., PR, VI, Guam or any other U.S. territory.

Henry David Thoreau Foundation

The Henry David Thoreau Foundation
attracts and sustains outstanding young leaders in diverse disciplines who will
safeguard the environmental welfare of future generations. Candidates for the
Henry David Thoreau Scholarship must be residents of Massachusetts. The
candidates must also be enrolled in and graduate from a Massachusetts high
school in the year they apply for a scholarship and begin college studies.
Students with strong academic qualifications and a commitment to the
environmental field may apply for an undergraduate scholarship totaling up to
$20,000 to the student's accredited institution of choice.
After enrolling and choosing any
major, they are required to carry 25 percent of their undergraduate course work
in subjects related to the environment. To maintain scholarship assistance,
Scholars are required to submit an annual report of their activities in the
environmental field, including academic courses. Scholars must provide an
official copy of their transcript at the end of each marking period and
maintain more than a 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale to remain eligible
for scholarship support.
In addition, Henry David Thoreau
Scholars are strongly encouraged to secure and complete an internship in the
environmental field, which commonly occurs between their junior and senior
year. Upon approval by the Selection Committee, students receive an internship
stipend.

The Award
- The intent of this award is to enable students to attend college without accumulating burdensome debt.
- In most cases, the Phillips Scholarship award ranges from $3,000 to $18,000 yearly.
- The award is renewable for up to four undergraduate years provided a GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale is maintained and financial need does not change substantially.
- All grants must be applied to tuition and fees only and will be paid directly to the institution.
- High school seniors entering college and returning college students attending accredited U.S. colleges or universities are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
- Awards may only be used for undergraduate study and are limited to those seeking a first bachelor’s degree.
- Awards will only be granted to applicants who are permanent residents of New England: Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont; however, recipients may attend college anywhere in the United States.
- While preference is given to applicants from Salem, MA, and a small number of cities and towns north of Boston, all qualified applicants from New England are considered for an award.
