Many colleges and universities offer pre-college programs for high school students. Most of these programs take place over the summer and the students live on campus, eat in the dining halls, and work with college students and professors. Programs like this give students a great idea about what college life is like. The best way to find these programs is to do a Google search along the lines of: "Pre-college programs at Name of University. You should be linked directly to the page.
While these programs are usually pretty expensive, there is often financial aid available to help with the cost. Below are some links to programs in the Boston area!

Successfully completing these programs does not guarantee admission to the college/university (or even give the student a significant advantage in the application process), however, they do look great on a resume! Some of the programs even offer college credit!
