A Message for Parents of Eighth Graders

Dear Parents of Grade Eight Students:

Greetings from the faculty, staff and administration of Hull High School.  As your student’s years at the Memorial Middle School draw to a close, it is time to start planning for his/her first year at Hull High School.  On April 9th, the Hull School Committee approved our 2012-2013 Program of Studies, allowing us to start the process of course selection for next year.  Over the next few months, we will work with you and your eighth-grader to develop the schedule that best meets their academic needs.

To start this process, I ask that you join me on Thursday April 26th at 7 PM in the Hull High School Exhibition Room.  The high school guidance counselors and I will present an overview of our academic program and the process used to select the courses that your student will take during their first year at Hull High School.  This meeting should last approximately 90 minutes and is designed for parents and guardians.  Your eighth-graders will see a similar presentation the next day, when they travel to Hull High School for “Step-up Day.”

Hull High School is an amazing educational community.  In 2010, we were named by Boston Magazine as one of the top 50 public schools in Massachusetts.  This past year, we were named to the College Board’s Advanced Placement Honor Roll, and were nominated by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a National Blue Ribbon School.  The academic, artistic and athletic accomplishments of our students are a source of great pride for our school and I am excited about your son/daughter joining our school.

I hope to see you on April 26th and I look forward to working with you and your student over the next 4 years.

Sincerely,

Michael F. Devine
