Hull High Theatre Arts at METG

This past Saturday HHSTA attended the Massachusetts Educators Theatre Guild High School Theatre Festival.  Hull had the opportunity to watch 8 other schools showcase their talents in different styles of theatre.  The students had a great time and represented their school well.  They immediately connected with students from the different schools including Xaverian Brothers, Nauset Regional, Duxbury, Hingham, Hanover, South Shore Charter, Rising Tide Charter, and Scituate High Schools.  Often Hull students could be found participating in theatre and improv games or dancing to music with other students during the breaks.  They participated in a post-showcase Q&A, asking questions to the other schools about their shows, acting techniques, or creative processes.  HHSTA is very inspired and excited to join the guild and present at student directed/produced show in 2017.  

Our director, Mr. Sullivan, also had the opportunity to connect with directors from other schools who will lend us support in preparing for next year, and discussed ideas for collaborative efforts in exchange workshops, attending performances and lending of resources.

Massachusetts Association of Women in Law Enforcement

Deadline:  March 11, 2016

The Massachusetts Association of Women in Law Enforcement (MAWLE) is pleased to offer a scholarship award, in the amount of five hundred dollars ($500.00), to be awarded to a high school senior who is pursuing a career in law enforcement or criminal justice.  This scholarship will be presented during our annual Spirit of MAWLE Award Ceremony.  

All candidates will be evaluated based on their achievements in relation to the entire pool of applicants. The scholarship will be awarded by July 1st of each year. To be eligible, applicants must meet the Scholarship Criteria and complete the Scholarship Application (see below).  Submissions will be accepted until March 11, 2016.  The award winner(s) will be chosen by the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Association of Women in Law Enforcement.

Charles Eliot II Scholarship

Deadline:  April 15th

The Charles Eliot Scholarship was established by MAPC in memory of Charles W. Eliot, II. Mr. Eliot was an advocate of regional cooperation and was especially interested in in land use planning as it affected transportation (coordination of trains, buses, cars, bicycles, and pedestrians), the need for communities to balance residential, business and open space, and the role of planning to solve modern problems (like today’s climate change). 
This scholarship is open to any senior in a secondary school in the 101 city-and-town MAPC region who is planning to further his/her education in these fields, which were of significant value to Mr. Eliot. A cash prize of at least $500 will be awarded in the form of a scholarship to the school of the recipient's choice.

2016 SEMSBA Music Festival

2016 SEMSBA Music Festival

This year Hull High School sent the following eight students to audition for the SEMSBA Music Festival, Daria Healey, Ethan Wagner, Ricky Barone, Kiernan Leahy, Ben Fenelon, Jimmy Barone, Sean Healey, and Michael DelGudice.  For many of the students it was their first musical audition.  Each student prepared a solo, memorized a number of musical scales and practiced sight reading for the audition.   The students went in as prepared as they could be and all of them left the audition with another high school experience they will forever value.  The results of the audition were the following.  Congratulations to Ricky Barone on making the Senior Concert Band on tenor saxophone, Sean Healey on making the Senior Orchestra on French horn, and Jimmy Barone on making the Senior Orchestra on trumpet.  The festival will be held at Milton High School this year on Saturday April 9.
